This is a memorial volume of the gift of Tully Stud, a thousand acres on the edge of The Curragh and one of the most successful studs in Europe, by William Hall Walker to the British Government for the purpose of founding a National Stud. His gift included six stallions, 43 broodmares, 10 two year olds, 19 yearlings, and more than 300 Shorthorn cattle, as well as many fine paintings at Tully, including works by Seymour, Sartorious,Wootton and Stubbs. This is surely the most unusual pedigree book ever made, the embellishments and designs by Fothergill, as well as the plates by Palmer create more of the impression of an art book above all else.
