| Thoroughbred Bloodlines - An
Elementary Study in Two Volumes, Revised 1939
John F. Wall, 1939, privately published. Two volumes bound in maroon cloth: Vol. I: edgewear, one page with underlining in the Introduction, all else very good, 300 pgs., 8 (6" x 9"), illustrated in b/w photos. Vol. II: spine cover and joints tender, tips worn and boards a bit soiled, 15" x 19.5" composed of charts, one fold-out, b/w large scale photos, fully indexed but unpaginated. A most worthy compilation of family tables of the thoroughbred prior to Bobinski, including the earliest contributing lines. Tables of descent from the Godolphin Arabian, Darley Arabian, Byerley Turk, and Foundation Mares of the Thoroughbred. Volume I gives further details on many of the horses found in the tables of Vol. II, and an appendix discussing the work of Bruce Lowe (see 'Breeding Racehorses' by the Figure System) and Friedrich Becker ( see 'Breed of the Racehorse') . |
