Volume I traces all the winners of the principal races throughout the world back to their original tap-roots and includes those horses of importance which did not 'qualify'. Sire lines are traced in similar fashion back to the three originals: the Darley Arabian, Byerley Turk, and Godolphin Arabian via Eclipse, Herod and Matchem. Volume II brings both the female and male charts up to date by arranging all the winners of the revised qualifying races from 1953 to 1959 and the sires which have emerged during those years, with references to the first volume. The esteemed magazine "British Racehorse" called it " more than a mere extension of the first. It includes what can only be described as a contribution to Thoroughbred statistics of the utmost importance" as well as stating that " the Tables are the only means of appreciating the development of certain strains in all the breeding countries, and it must follow that that no breeder with any claim to be considered a serious student of Thoroughbred bloodlines can be without them."
