Library, A guide to the Collection, 1958] lists this title as illustrated w/plates, as the full title indicated, but this copy has no plates. Extensive notation in pencil in the author's hand - this copy is believed to have been used by the author in preparation for a revised edition (never produced). This copy is from the library of J.A. Allen, equestrian bookseller and publisher. Green cloth with gilt titles, head and tail of spine and corners quite rubbed, front board slightly soiled and back board slightly scuffed, else very good.

A collection of early records of the thoroughbred horse pre-dating Weatherby's 'An Introduction to a General Stud Book 1791': including Mr Cuthbert Routh's Studbook, The Duke of Ancaster's Studbook, The Duke of Newcastle's Studbook at Welbeck Abbey, with other excerpts relating to the Byerley Turk, The Curwen Bay Barb, Merlin, Bay Peg, and other materials from various sources.
