Stud books of the Razza Dormello-Olgiata, stud farms of Federico Tesio, broodmares and their race and produce records, published shortly after his passing.
Foreword by John Hislop:
"When those of my generation come to be asked by their grandchildren: 'Who was the greatest breeder, the outstanding sire, the best racehorse of your time?' the answer will probably be: ' Tesio, Nearco, Ribot'. For it is unlikely that any modern breeder will achieve comparable success to that gained by Senator Tesio, while the influence of Nearco on the breed of the thoroughbred becomes more pronounced each year and horses of the caliber of Ribot are few and far between. Moreover, Senator Tesio produced his many great racehorses, sires, and broodmares from comparatively limited resources. He never had a large number of mares in his stud at any given time, did not spend a great deal of money on bloodstock and sold most of the best horses he bred. Senator Tesio was a genius."
