A skilled draftsman, watercolorist, and painter, Otto Eerelman was primarily known for his detailed renderings of horses. In 1907, Zutphen, Schillemans & Van Belkum published a limited Dutch edition of Paardenrassen Kunstalbum, a portfolio of chromolithographed plates based on paintings by Eerelman, which depict 40 different breeds of horses. Plates include the Arabian, Hackney, Percheron, Groninger, East-Prussian, Shire, Lipizzaner, Cleveland Bay, Suffolk, Hunter, Trakehner, Oldenburg, Hannoverian, Persian, Mecklenburg, Normand, Bretagne, English Thoroughbred, Russian Trotter, Gelders, Belgian, Ardennes, Hungarian, Pinzgauer, Russian workhorse, Russian Half-blood, Andalusian, Swiss, Danish, American Trotter, Turkish, Sandelhout, English and French ponies, Canadian, Algerian, Australian, Norwegian, Irish, Bolognaise, and Holsteiner.
